Description: MOULD SEALING MUD FOR METAL CASTING
Notes
The petroleum is used instead of water to prevent the explosions that occur when hot metal is poured onto wet clay and steam is suddenly generated.
Safety glasses must be used to prevent eye injury when using this material in casting. Protective clothing such as gloves, aprons, jackets etc are also necessary.
Bentonite 5%
Clay 5-10%
Formaldehyde Solution 1%
Magnesium Silicate (talc?) 30-50%
Petroleum distillate (linseed oil?) 5%
Silica 30-40%

Clay Other
Clays that are not kaolins, ball clays or bentonites. For example, stoneware clays are mixtures of all of the above plus quartz, feldspar, mica and other minerals. There are also many clays that have high plasticity like bentonite but are much different mineralogically. |
